Yoga

Dahab is the centre of Yoga in the near East. Yoga found its natural home in Dahab when, not long ago, it was a real hippy and hang out for alternative living. Today there are more and more yoga courses and classes going on and if you want to feel fit during your holiday you can take a look at the Yoga classes you can join near Eldorado Lodge.

Kundalini Yoga

One of the classes is taken by the World Champion Freediver Sara Campbell, four-times world record holder. She teaches KUNDALINI YOGA and she explains this kind of yoga to us as follows:

“Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of latent spiritual awareness and works using combinations of simple positions, breath, locks (bhandas) and mantra (sound). It is great fun. While simple and suitable for people of all levels and abilities, the exercises enable you to work hard and it is a great workout as well as one of the most powerful spiritual practices for transformation and change”

Sara attributes her four World Records in freediving to the power of Kundalini Yoga! Come and try it, have some fun and maybe even learn something new about yourself – who knows where it might lead you!

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Ashtanga Yoga classes are taken by Birgit. She has a long experience in teaching Yoga and lives in Dahab since 2000. She usually organizes Yoga Desert Safaris or interesting combinations of Yoga and Diving.

“In my classes I emphasise the importance of using breath as a guide in your practice, I encourage you to listen to your body, and offer variations for each posture as well as gentle adjustments. My aim is to make practitioners understand that yoga is not merely physical exercise but rather an opportunity to connect to yourself, improve body awareness and stay in the present moment”
